In this introductory course, students will learn the basics of American Sign Language, be exposed to Deaf Culture, and begin to learn about norms of the Deaf Community.

We offer six American Sign Language class courses to help bridge the gap between the hearing and Deaf community. These courses start with learning the basics of ASL like the alphabet, fingerspelling and numbers all the way to narrating stories and discussing goals.

In this course, students will continue learning ASL strategies and implement them within narratives.
In the third course, students will discuss favorite activities and hobbies to learn about tenses, narratives, and facial cues.
In this course, students will continue to learn about classifiers, how to describe people and conversational strategies.
In the second advanced course, students will continue learning more vocabulary and new types of classifiers in ASL.
In the final course, students will be expected to produce and comprehend longer periods of discourse.
